PPREV EU – EUROPEAN UNION PROGRAMME FOR THE PREVENTION OF VIOLENT EXTREMISM IN WEST AFRICA AND IN THE LAKE CHAD BASIN
PPREV EU is a programme funded by €4,000,000 from the European Union’s Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (ICSP) for an 18-month period. It covers 17 countries throughout the Sahel, Lake Chad Basin and neighbouring countries.
The programme’s aim is to support beneficiaries, notably European Union delegations, local authorities and donors, to formulate and implement, in an efficient and coordinated manner, concrete projects for the prevention of radicalisation and violent extremism. The project offers decision-makers the necessary tools to be able to implement targeted operational responses adapted to the local context. It does this through an accurate and relevant analysis of the underlying causes of the phenomenon, the strategies and the programmes to be deployed, and the actors to be brought on board.
Aims
The project is organised around three specific aims :
1) Implementation and correct operation of a technical expertise coordination and activation mechanism to facilitate access to expertise on the phenomena of violent extremism and radicalisation.
2) The production and circulation of decision-making tools to support European Union delegations looking to implement pertinent and efficient policies in terms of preventing/countering violent extremism (P/CVE).
3) Support for the development, monitoring and evaluation of concrete actions led by the invested and competent organisations in the intervention area through facilitated access to short funding circuits
