EUROMED POLICE
Euromed Police IV began in February 2016 for a duration of four years. Funded by €4.8 million from the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) the aim of the project is to encourage police cooperation amongst the members countries of the ENI South and between these counties and member states of the European Union.The project seeks to improve citizen security in the areas of the respect of international principles and standards of good governance, the rule of law and respect for human rights through long-lasting processes and mechanisms.
• Euromed Strategy for Citizen Security
A cooperation strategy to improved citizen security in priority areas in line with the EU’s policy cycle to fight against organised crime.
• Euromed Threat Forum
This Forum facilitates the exchange and analysis of information on crime and is hosted by EUROPOL.
• Euromed knowledge base
The Euromed knowledge base, hosted by CEPOL, for the continuous exchange of experience and the development of training material will be managed by the Euromed Capacity Building Network.

Implementation of the analysts’ network
First meeting of the analysts’ network in Madrid. The network’s mandate is to identify threats to citizens’ security in the partner countries and in the project’s priority areas. On the back of this capacity building actions will then be developed.

Implementation of the capacity building network
First meeting of the capacity building network hosted by the National Police College at Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or in Lyon.

February 2017
Approval of the priority areas
First High Level Meeting in Malta, approval of the “Euromed Cooperation Priorities to improve citizens’ security”: counter-terrorism, illegal immigration facilitated by criminal networks and cybercrime. These form the basis for the actions to be implemented throughout the project including capacity building.

September 2017
Approval of the Euromed Strategy for Citizen Security
During the second High Level Meeting in The Hague the “Euromed Cooperation Strategy” to increase citizen security in the priority areas was approved. This strategy is aligned with the European Union policy cycle to fight against organised crime.

Launch of capacity-building actions
First capacity-building action in Rome on the topic of the fight against human trafficking.
