A new regional training session in Kenya from 15 to 20 September 2019 brought together justice professionals from national prosecutors' offices specialized in the fight against terrorism, investigation, and intelligence services from several countries in the Horn of Africa.
Led by 3 international experts Carmen BAENA (Spain), Marc BRISSET-FOUCAULT (France) and Payam SHAHRJERDI (France), this training was organised as part of the European Union project REGIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THE GREATER HORN OF AFRICA AND YEMEN [RLE GHoAY] aimed at strengthening the capacities of intelligence services, law enforcement agencies and justice professionals in the fight against terrorism. This project covers countries in the Greater Horn of Africa region (Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda and Uganda) as well as Yemen.
On this occasion, participants have consolidated their knowledge of mutual legal assistance (MLA), extradition and trafficking in human beings, and observe the correlation between the effectiveness of the prosecution service's action, the proper administration of justice and respect for the principles of fair trial in the light of international, regional and national instruments.
