  • Study visit of a Georgian delegation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Paris under the framework of Prometheus Project

    From June 20 to 25th 2021, a delegation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia came to Paris, accompanied by the two Prometheus Project team members (Messrs. Stéphane Andrique and Nicolas LE QUILLEC) as well as by the Regional Police Attaché for the South-Caucasus Region (Mr. Hervé JAMET), in order to meet and discuss with their French counterparts from the Border Police Central Directorate (DCPAF) and the International Cooperation Directorate (DCI) and to visit various departments of the French Ministry of the Interior.

    The 6 members of the Georgian delegation represented three departments of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs: Patrol Police Department, International Relations Department and Migration Department.

    The Patrol Police Department was represented by Mr. Vazha SIRADZE, Director of the Patrol Police, Mr. Guram DAVITASHVILI, Deputy Director of the Patrol Police and Mr. Otar SULABERIDZE, Head of the Tbilisi International Airport Patrol Police.

    The International Relations Department was represented by Ms. Nino GAKHARIA, Deputy Director and Ms. Tamar SARTANIA, from the Project Management Division.

    The Migration Department was represented by Mr. Mikheil CHIKVAIDZE, deputy director.

    Mr. Lasha MEDULASHVILI, Georgian Police Attaché in France, accompanied the delegation throughout the week.

    This study visit, which took place within the framework of the Prometheus project, aimed at strengthening the links between the Georgian and French partners and to improve institutional and operational cooperation. A phase 2 of the Prometheus Project was discussed and desired by both parties.

    The delegation was received during the week by Mr. Fernand GONTIER, Head of the French Border Police Central Directorate, Ms. Brigitte LAFOURCADE, deputy director of the Border Police Central Directorate, Mr. Julien GENTILE, head of the Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport Border Police forces, as well as by Mr. Bertrand FRANÇOIS, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Directorate.

    In addition to these high-level meetings, the delegation spent a day in the French ministry of interior based in Lognes – near Paris (presentation of several services of the Border Police) and a full day at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport (visit of the Border Police units of the airport).
