Prometheus Project organized three training sessions on document fraud at the end of August - beginning of September. First at Kutaisi International Airport, from August 31 to September 9, two training sessions were held for the airport Patrol Police. 30 police officers followed this training with seriousness and interest, combining the detection of false documents and impostors (profiling, morphing).
Training was provided by Mr. Edgars Dokāns, a Latvian State Border Guard inspector. These 8 days of training were punctuated by numerous practical exercises and highly appreciated by the trainees. Georgia being a country Mr. Dokāns knows very well since he previously worked in Tbilisi for 2 years as an immigration liaison officer.
The following week, from September 13 to 16, Mr. Juan Pablo Valiente, inspector and deputy head of the documentary fraud office of the UCRIF (Spanish National Police), provided the same type of training at the MIA Academy for 15 police officers of the Tbilisi Airport Patrol Police. Mr. Valiente already came to Tbilisi last July for a first training session under the framework of Prometheus. This new training session was equally appreciated by the curious and involved trainees.
This 2nd line documentary fraud training cycle therefore comes to an end. Overall, four sessions of four days each were given on this theme by the two Spanish and Latvian experts for a total of 60 officers of the Patrol Police Department trained.
This was also the last training session provided by Prometheus Project as it will officially ends on September 25.
